Kindle ebooks and reading skills for children

A child’s reading skills are important to their success in school and work. In addition, reading can be a fun and imaginative activity for children, which opens doors to all kinds of new worlds for them. By children reading, they expand their imagination and thinking, and make them into little geniuses.

Reading and writing are important ways we use language to communicate. Research, according to University of Michigan states there are five early reading skills that are all essential. They are:

Phonemic awareness—Being able to hear, identify, and play with individual sounds (phonemes) in spoken words.

Phonics—Being able to connect the letters of written language with the sounds of spoken language.

Vocabulary—The words kids need to know to communicate effectively.

Reading comprehension—Being able to understand and get meaning from what has been read.

Fluency (oral reading)—Being able to read text accurately and quickly. ebooks for children

The world is using computers, iPad, tablets etc., and the Kindle. The Kindle should be considered in preparing our children for the new reality as well as enhancing their skills as stated above. There is also a Kindle edition if you are thinking of improving adolescent literacy.

eBooks for children will undoubtedly stimulate your child’s mind, studies and learning pattern. Help improve the reading habits of your child and you will notice the difference this will make in their lives. The investment you make in your child’s reading will pay off.

I hope we will commit time and effort in ensuring that our children develop a habit of reading. The skills as listed above that they learn as a result of reading should cause us to be intentional about ensuring that they develop a love for reading.

  1. I’m a Mom and an educator. I see how we have let down and disappointed the current generation in our quest to educate them. I like that you break down the five early learning skills because as a parent it teaches me what my children should know and be able to do. I also like that you offer the Kindle because it’s something compact my children can take with them everywhere and still work on all of these reading skills. It’s also great that adolescence and adults can do the same. Thank you.

    • Thank you. It is good to have a mom and educator comment on this important subject of reading and how the Kindle can contribute to encouraging our children to read. Thank you for the work you are doing as an educator and mom.
